CarAlity A Tribute In New Orleans edition by J Daniel Jones John Kraman Literature Fiction eBooks

A "barn find" 40's car can be quite a treasure, especially if the original owner was famous.
Perhaps not so much if he was infamous.
Or, is it perhaps more so?
A newly discovered Hitler-used German staff car is a "last minute consignment" in a New Orleans classic car auction. It is "last minute" for a reason.
Protests immediately spring up; grass roots and sponsored by a small, mid-city Baptist church… although the pressure behind the protest isn't quite what it seems.
The media soon descends, and are just as quickly denied entrance.
The auction is, after all, on private property. No laws are being broken and the consigner doesn't feel he needs "additional publicity." The auction house stands to make millions with a not-quite-standard auction agreement. As such, they are prone to agree.
The hidden collecting underground of Nazi-era artifacts openly collides with the high-stakes world of news and entertainment television.
Millions of dollars are at stake as A-List car collectors decide the question, "What's in a name… and how much is it worth?"

Antoine "Andy" Guidry is a down on his luck cable TV producer living well beyond his means in San Diego, CA.
He had risen through the ranks of camera op, field producer, and senior producer until he finally jumped ship and developed his own show... burning more than a few bridges on the journey. When his show was abruptly cancelled, it left him with little more than maxed out credit cards, severely overdue bills, and an increasingly virulent marijuana habit.
Unsuccessful at trying to drum up work from former "once bitten-twice shy" associates, he is forced to sell his most treasured possession, a 1968 Porsche 911T Targa. Needing the money as soon as possible, he selects the next classic car auction he can find, A-Bears Classic Car Auction in New Orleans, LA. Being a Louisiana native, it feels like he's returning home and starting all over again. At his age, that's not a good thing.
Through an unforeseen twist of fate, he finds he is now the only TV producer on the planet with access to the coup of the auto auction universe. A previously undiscovered Mercedes-Benz 770K Grosser Tourenwagen, purportedly used by Adolf Hitler, is also being sold in the same auction as Andy's cherished 911, and with about as much advance publicity.
Unfortunately, the consigner not only has no interest in television coverage, he's actually banned it. He claims it is due to the nature of the provenance, which may be as, or even more valuable than the car itself.
If he can find a loophole that will let him actually cover the auction, this could put him back in the game. He just needs to develop a concept, pitch it, get some front money, field a crew, sneak 'em in, and cover the classic car auction event of the century.
Sure, it sounds a bit daunting. But he does, after all, have three whole days to pull it off.
CarAlity A Tribute In New Orleans edition by J Daniel Jones John Kraman Literature Fiction eBooks
Having been in New Orleans a few times, the setting is somewhat familiar. I know that producing a big event like an automobile auction for classic cars was probably complex and as the story unfolds, it is very complex. Accordingly, it is an excellent commentary on the marketing business to include great examples of the "Art of the Deal". Bargaining insight and clever maneuvers are prevalent. One would never expect an onerous crime to occur. Bravo!Product details

CarAlity A Tribute In New Orleans edition by J Daniel Jones John Kraman Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
WOW! As far as I am concerned, for a first novel J. Daniel Jones has hit it out of the park. Mr. Jones absolutely nailed the the television and the special event industries. I've been part of both at different periods during my life and I was ready to pounce on any discrepancies, No pouncing was called for. Mr. Jones knows that of which he writes.
Author Jones is a storyteller of the highest order. He hooks the reader and makes it difficult to set the book down to attend to other matters. One thought that occurred to me more than once was that this story could have well been written by Carl Hiaasen.
If I have any disappointment about "CarAlity... A Tribute In New Orleans .." It is that now that I have finished it, there is not yet a sequel.
Love your book, Mr. Jones. Please keep churning them out.
I had no idea how little I knew of audio/visual production. I'm not sure I know any more now, but I sure do know where to look for names of hi-tech equipment, how "film" productions are directed, and more about the ins and outs of financing productions, about cars and in general. It's very much more complicated than one would originally imagine. CarAlity was PERFECT!!!! vehicle for teaching about these skills.
I had not had the privilege of reading anything by J. Daniel Jones before, but anything written by him I will buy immediately, just on the strength of his name on the book. I cannot possibly recommend this book to you highly enough. Buy it immediately.

Mr. Jones did a wonderful job of developing his characters and their dialogue. They were very believable. As someone who is not part of the car auction world, I found myself drawn into the scene very quickly. Although the book is long, it is a fast read. Highly recommend it
I did not know what to expect from Mr. Jones' new book. I was pleasantly surprised! "CarAlity ... " is a fun read! I found the characters very engaging and easy to appreciate. I have a fairly good understanding of the TV production scenes, as I used to work in that business - and I like nice cars. This is an excellent first novel.
Congratulations!
A fun read especially for us car buffs who attend auctions. The book gives us a glimpse into the promotional side which is interesting and this read with its quirky characters makes it fun as well.
Pleasant novel on cars, auctions and TV series. Nicely designed plot but quite a happy end. Good for air travel
Overall, it was a fun read with interesting characters and I did want to keep reading and find out how it would end. I marked it down a star [and probably should have knocked it down 2 ] for stereotypical depictions of religious people, women and fat people - specifically fat women. That took away from the story and was unnecessary.
